Pastors and ministry leaders don’t get into difficulty because they forget they are leaders… they get into difficulty because they forget they are persons.

What is Flourishing in Ministry Coaching?
While a lot of coaching for ministry leaders focuses on ministry skill development, Flourishing in Ministry coaching focuses on the holistic, personal formation of ministry leaders. Flourishing in Ministry Coaching utilizes a synthesis of practical and pastoral theology, applied positive psychology from the Flourishing in Ministry project, and ministry leadership coaching designed for the holistic formation and wellbeing of pastors and other ministry leaders. A group of highly educated, trained, certified, and experienced FiM coaches are available to journey with you in moving toward your own wellbeing and leadership goals.
What is the Flourishing in Ministry Project?
Over 10 years of scientific research with over 15,000 pastors has led to an integrated model of wellbeing at work for ministry leaders. What are the practices and conditions that not only prevent burnout, but promote flourishing? You were created to flourish in four key dimensions: Everyday Wellbeing, Resilience, Thriving, and Authenticity. What is Coaching?
The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Our Flourishing in Ministry Coach Education Coordinator, Dr. Sylvia Hart Frejd, defines Christian coaching as “a professional relationship focused on empowering a person or group to effect change, create new awareness, move into action and step into the abundant Christian life.” While coaching is different from pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, spiritual direction, or mentoring, at times coaching may overlap to some extent with all of these.
